Bordering Alabama and Georgia with the Gulf of Mexico to the south west and the Atlantic Ocean to the west Florida has a Population of 13,053,000 and covers 58,664 square miles. The State Capital is Tallahassee (named from the indian word meaning "old field" or "old town"). Other major cities are Fort Lauderdale, Jacksonville, Miami, St. Petersburg, Tallahassee and Tampa.
Climate
Florida doesn't have the nickname of the 'Sunshine State' for nothing, with over 300 days sunshine per annum (Americans unsurprisingly boast 360 days per annum). However, in Florida, when it rains - it rains!!!! Summers are hot and humid with highs of 30C but feel hotter due to the humidity.
